Course Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations, including in the workplace, home and community. It applies to anyone who may be required to provide first aid in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
Ideal for care workers, educators, tradespeople, fitness professionals and anyone whose workplace requires a current first aid certificate. Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
What You Learn
This course delivers one unit of competency: HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (which encompasses HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support). Topics include:
- CPR on adult and infant manikins, including use of an AED (defibrillator)
- Responding to anaphylaxis, asthma, choking and seizures
- Managing bleeding, shock, burns, fractures, sprains and envenomation
- Assessing an emergency, casualty handover and incident reporting

Complete the theory component online at your own pace before attending a one-day practical session at our training facility.
Assessment
Theory assessment (online quiz) plus practical demonstration, including 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor, AED use, and simulated first aid scenarios.
