ACHC trains the disability and aged care workforce. It would be a poor look — and a worse principle — if our own website excluded the people we train others to support.
The standard we aim for
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by Australian government accessibility requirements.
What that means here
- Text and background colours meet the AA contrast ratio, including small print
- Every function works by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link
- Headings are structured in order so screen reader users can navigate by them
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone
- Text reflows to 320px and can be enlarged without breaking the layout
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that
Where we fall short
Some downloadable PDFs are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. If you need any document in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide it — in plain text, large print or another format that works for you, at no charge.

If you hit a barrier on this site, let us know what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We treat accessibility problems as faults to be fixed, not requests to be considered.
