ACHC handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. As a registered training organisation we also have collection and reporting obligations under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 and the Student Identifiers Act 2014.
What we collect
Contact and identity details; your Unique Student Identifier; prior education and employment history; language, literacy and numeracy assessment results; enrolment, attendance, assessment and completion records; fee and payment records; screening check status where your course involves work placement; and any health or disability information you choose to give us so we can make reasonable adjustments.
Why we collect it
To assess your application, deliver and assess your training, arrange your work placement, issue your certification, provide support services, administer fees, and meet our legal and regulatory reporting obligations.
Who we disclose it to
- The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) — we are required to submit AVETMISS data, which may be used for statistical, research, audit and student survey purposes.
- The Student Identifiers Registrar — to verify your USI and report your training outcomes to your transcript.
- ASQA and government funding bodies — for regulatory audit and, where your training is subsidised, funding administration.
- Work placement host services — the information they need to host you safely and lawfully, including screening check status.
- Your employer — only where your employer is funding your training, and only what relates to that.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it for marketing by third parties.
Storage and security
Records are held in access-controlled systems and retained for the periods required by our regulator and by records legislation — student outcome records must be kept for 30 years. When information is no longer required and no retention obligation applies, it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request.
This website
When you submit an enquiry form we collect the details you provide so we can respond. Our web fonts are served from our own server rather than a third party, so loading a page does not share your details with an external font provider.
Complaints about privacy
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, raise it with us through Complaints & Appeals. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
